LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tulad ni Kobe Bryant, hindi na rin babalik sa bench ng Los Angeles Lakers si coach Byron Scott sa susunod na season.
Ipinahayag ng Lakers management nitong Linggo (Lunes sa Manila) na pinutol na nila ang ugnayan sa dati rin nilang superstar.
Pinangasiwaan ni Scott ang Lakers sa nakalipas na dalawang season at naitala ng 16-time NBA champion ang pinakamasamang record sa kasaysayan ng prangkisa (38-126).
Tinapos ng Los Angeles ang kampanya ngayong season sa ikalawang pinakamalalang marka sa NBA (17-65).
“We would like to thank Byron for his hard work, dedication and loyalty over the last two years, but have decided it is in the best interest of the organization to make a change at this time,” pahayag ni general manager Mitch Kupchak.
Matapos ipahayag ni Bryant ang pagreretiro sa pagtatapos ng season, ramdam na rin ni Scott na nasa bitayan na rin ang kanyang trabaho. Bilang player, kasama si Scott sa tatlong NBA titles kasama sina Hall-of-famer Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at James Worthy sa pamosong ‘Showtime’ noong dekada 80.
“This is my dream job, and obviously you want the opportunity to turn it all around,” sambit ni Scott.
“But I understand the business of basketball, and it’s all about wins and losses.”
