Mahigit 100 magsasaka mula sa San Jose del Monte City sa Bulacan ang nagprotesta laban sa Metro Rail Transit (MRT)-Line 7 project dahil mawawasak umano ng “bulldoze more than 300 hectares of disputed agricultural land.”
Ayon sa Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), maglalaho rin ang mga sakahan ng mga magsasaka sa ilang barangay sa siyudad dahil sa MRT-7.
“The land to be covered by the MRT-7’s 14th station and intermodal depot in Barangay Tungkong Mangga in San Jose del Monte City is still under agrarian dispute at the DAR,” sabi ni Eriberto Peña, chairman ng Alyansa ng Magbubukid sa Bulacan-KMP.
“For many years, farmers have asserted their rightful claim over the lands but the DAR, in connivance with big landlords like Araneta and Cojuangco, used the bogus and now defunct CARP to continuously threaten to displace farmers,” aniya.

“DAR’s many issuances, including cancellation of Certificate of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) and land conversion orders, allowed and legitimized land-grabbing despite the fact that farmers have been tilling the lands for many decades,” giit ni Peña.
Sinabi ni Peña na makaaapekto rin ang sisimulang konstruksiyon ng MRT-7 train system sa seguridad sa pagkain sa San Jose del Monte at sa mga kalapit na lugar dahil mahigit 300 ektarya ng produktibong taniman ang papatagin para bigyang-daan ang inter-modal transport depot ng MRT-7, na isang malaking banta na mawawalan ng matitirahan at masasaka ang mahigit 1,000 magsasaka at kani-kanilang pamilya.
