“He’s been doing well. He knows it’s the biggest fight he can have right now and this is the biggest test in a big stage,” pahayag ng seven-time Elorde Awards Promoter of the Year.

“He’s very positive and very excited about it. I mean, he’s very optimistic. We’re hoping he’s going to do very well. If he does well, it’s going to be a big thing for him.”

Sa edad na 20, nagkamada na ang tubong Leyte ng perpektong 13-0 record, tampok ang 10 knockout. Higit pa rito, siya ang kasalukuyang kinikilalang top featherweight ng bansa simula nang maging propesyonal, tatlong taon pa lamang ang nakararaan.

Matapos masungkit ang WBO Youth Featherweight belt nito lamang Pebrero kontra kay Eduardo Montoya, nangako si Magsayo na higit pa niyang huhusayan ang kanyang pakikipagduwelo laban sa mas may karanasan na si Chris “The Hitman” Avalos (26-4, 19 knockouts).

“Pagbubutihin ko pa nang maigi para mas maganda ‘yung laban sa susunod kasi ‘yung makakalaban ko, hindi basta-basta yun. Si Avalos,” matigas na sinabi ni Magsayo. “Pag-iigihan ko nang mabuti ang training at papakita ko sa kanila na kaya ko yun.”

Nakataya sa Sabado sa Magsayo-Avalos bout ang bakanteng WBO International featherweight crown.

“If he wins, he’s going to be in the US for bigger fights but this is going to be a big fight, especially fighting in the undercard of Nonito Donaire,” pahayag ni Aldeguer. (Gilbert Espeña)
