Hihilingin ni Pampanga Representative Joseller “Yeng” Guiao sa Supreme Court na isulong ang batas na nagkakaloob sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ng karapatan para sa limang porsiyentong gross sa buwanang kita ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Ayon kay PSC Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy, Jr.nakatakdang isumite ni Guiao, Vice-Chairman ng House Committee on Youth, Games and Sports, kasama ang ilang mambabatas ang apela sa Supreme Court para pagpasiyahan ang matagal nang usapin hinggil sa tamang pondo na kailangang matanggap ng sports agency.
“Matagal nang pinagdedebatehan ang tungkol sa dapat na matanggap ng komunidad ng sports and one of the prime concerns is iyung 5% nitong dapat na matanggap sa gross ba o sa net income ng PAGCOR,” ayon kay Atty. Iroy.

Nakasaad naman sa Republic Act 6847 o ang batas na nagbuo sa PSC, partikular sa Section 26, ang ukol sa funding at mga pamamaraan para sa pagpopondo ng ahensiya sa sports ng bansa.
“To finance the country’s integrated sports development program, including the holding of the national games and other sports competitions at loo level throughout the country as well as the country’s participation at international sports competitions, such as, but not limited to, the Olympics, Asian and Southeast Asian Games, and all other international competitions, sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee and the International Federations.”
“Thirty percent (30%) representing the charity fund of the proceeds of six (6) sweepstakes or lottery draws per annum, taxes on horse races during special holidays, five percent (5%) of the gross income of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, the proceeds from the sale of stamps as herein provided, and three percent (3%) of all the taxes collected on imported athletic equipment shall be automatically remitted directly to the Commission and are hereby constituted as the National Sports Development Fund,” ayon sa probisyon sa PSC Law.
Hangad ni Guiao na tuluyang malinawan ang nakasaad sa batas upang mas makatulong sa komunidad ng palakasan pati na sa PSC upang masustenahan ang mga programa at mabigyan ng nararapat na suporta at tulong ang mga pambansang atleta.
Isa sa matinding usapin sa isinagawang National Sports Council Forum noong Disyembre sa Cebu City ang dapat na pondong makuha sa Pagcor. (ANGIE OREDO)
