Nakopo ng Junior Volcanoes Under-16 at Under-14 team ang kampeonato sa katatapos na Asian Juniors championships sa Bangkok, Thailand.

Napagwagihan ng U-16 Volcanoes ang Cup Division nang bokyain ang Malaysia, 3-0, sa championship match. Umusad sa kampeonato ang Pinoy nang walisin ang elimination round.

Tinampukan nina Fil-American Josh Aho at Reed Santos ang U-16 side na pinangasiwaan ni coach Paul Retzlaff.

“Defense wins championships and the Junior Volcanoes proved this,” sambit ni Retzlaff.

Nagwagi naman ang Philippine U-14 squad kontra Thailand sa Plate Final, 19-10, tampok ang matikas na opensa nina Keanu Faynot at Rand Santos. Sa kabuuan ng kampanya, naitala ng Pinoy ang 4-1-1 karta.

“Both the National U14 and U16 showed they can match it with the best teams in South East Asia… This was our first time to play in this tournament and we have certainly left a mark by winning in both divisions,” pahayag ni Philippnie Rugby Football Union Director of Rugby Matt Cullen.

Bukod sa Volcanoes, sumabak din sa torneo ang mga koponan mula sa Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka at Hong Kong.
