Tanggap na ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang posibilidad na putaktihin ang komisyon ng mga matatalong kandidato matapos nitong ibasura ang panukalang pagbibigay ng resibo sa mga botante matapos silang bumoto sa Mayo 9.
Ito ang inihayag ni Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista sa pagdinig ng Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on the Automated Election System (JCOC-AES).
Aniya, posibleng buweltahan ang Comelec ng mga matatalong kandidato dahil hindi nito pinaboran ang panukalang pag-iimprenta ng resibo para sa mga botante.
Ayon kay Comelec Commissioner Christian Robert Lim, na siya ring election project director, may kabuuang 54,356,000 ang rehistradong botante sa bansa, bukod pa sa mga overseas Filipino voter.

Ang public hearing ay pinangasiwaan ni Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, chairman ng Senate Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation Committee, at ni Rep. Oscar S. Rodriguez, chairman ng House panel.
Nasaksihan ng JCOC-AES ang demonstrasyon sa kapabilidad ng vote counting machine (VCM), na isinagawa sa Senate session hall.
‘’A big concern for us is that there might be losing candidates who might question the results basically instructing their supporters that when the machines print out what the receipts say, they will say it is not correct,’’ pahayag ni Bautista.
‘’This kind of hostility of a losing candidate can really cast doubt on the credibility of the election. The Comelec en banc voted 7-0 not to enable to feature the printing of receipt,” dagdag ng Comelec chief.
Iginiit ni Pimentel na dapat nakasaad sa mga umiiral na batas ang pagkakaroon ng voter verifiable audit sa automated election system. (Mario Casayuran)
