Bumuhos ang pakikiramay at dalamhati para sa dalawang regular marathoner na pumanaw matapos magkolapso sa gitna ng karera ng Condura Skyway Marathon nitong Linggo.

Napuno ang simpatiyaang social network para kina Manases Alfon Jr., 38, mula sa Cebu City at Philippine Army Major Arnold Lubang, miyembro ng Philippine Army Class 2000, na kapwa nakilahok sa 21 kilometer half marathon na ginanap sa Skyway at natapos sa Filinvest.

Kapwa hinimatay ang dalawa matapos makaramdam ng panghihina sa gitna ng karera. Kaagad silang tinulungan ng mga kapwa runner at agad nabigyan ng paunang lunas ng medical personnel bago isinugod sa pinakamalapit na ospital.

Mismong ang organizer ng marathon ay nagpahatid na rin ng pakikiramay sa pamilya ng dalawang running enthusiast.

“Today is a sad day for the running community. We are devastated over the loss of our 2 brothers who ran for a Hero during the 8th Condura Skyway marathon last February 7, 2016.

“We would like to express our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Manases Alfon Jr.; 38 years old from Cebu who joined the 42km full marathon and Major Arnold Lubang, 40 years old of the Philippine Army who joined the 21km half marathon,” pahayag ng organizer sa kanilang facebook account na inilagay ng ABS-CBN sports website.

“These young men at the prime of their lives joined the marathon to help out a great cause and that is to send the children of our fallen soldiers to school through the Hero Foundation. We honor them. Today they are our Heroes too.

“They will forever serve as an inspiration to us all. God Bless them and may they rest in peace!

“Run in heaven for us our brothers! We salute both of you!” ayon sa mensahe.

Umabot sa kabuuang 20,000 runners ang nakilahok sa fund-raising marathon na pinagbidahan ng Kenyan runners sa elite 42 K event. Ang bahagi ng kinita ng programa ay ibibigay sa Hero Foundation na nangangasiwa para sa pag-aaral at suporta sa mga anak ng namayapang sundalo.
