Makatatanggap ng P2,000 honorarium ang mga guro ng pampublikong paaralan na sasailalim sa technical training sa paggamit ng automated election system (AES) para sa halalan sa Mayo 9.
Sinabi ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista na ang karagdagang allowance ay upang matustusan ang gastusin ng mga guro sa pagdalo sa training na pangungunahan ng Department of Science and Technology (DoST).
Ang P2,000 ay bahagi ng kabuuang P4,500 honorarium na ipamamahagi ng Comelec sa mga guro na magsisilbing board of election inspectors sa eleksiyon.
Ito ay matapos lumagda sa isang memorandum of agreement ang Comelec, DoST at Department of Education (DepEd) kamakalawa para sa training ng huling batch ng public school teachers.

“The teachers of course have to be trained in respect to their function and their responsibilities and that is where the DoST comes in,” ani Bautista.
“They will be certifying the teachers who will be serving as BEI have the requisite competence, skills, and capacity to be able to serve as our board of elections,” dagdag niya.
Kumpiyansa si DoST Secretary Mario Montejo na makukumpleto nila ang testing materials bago sumapit ang Pebrero at maisasagawa ang training sa Marso 1-26.
Aabot sa 100,000 ang guro na sasailalim sa certification training ng DoST, ayon kay Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez.
