Tiniyak ni fight promoter Bob Arum na hindi niya hahabulin si multi-division world champion Manny Pacquiao sakaling magretiro na ito sa boxing.
Kamakailan ay idineklara na ng 27-anyos na si Pacquiao na magreretiro na siya matapos ang kaniyang darating na world welterweight title bout kontra defending champion Timothy Bradley sa Las Vegas.
Ito’y sa kabila ng natitirang tatlong laban sa promotional deal ni Pacquiao sa Top Rank, Inc.na magtatapos sa 2017.
“He’s not breaking that contract if ever he retires.He has no obligation to me to continue fighting, legally,”pahayag ni Arum.
Desidido man si Pacquiao sa kaniyang retirement plan,ayaw naman itong gamitin ni Arum bilang ‘selling point’ ng kaniyang April card.
“I’m not going to do it because I’m not sure it is his last fight.But that’s up to him. If he’s retiring, he’s retiring.If he fights again,of course I’ll promote it,” ani Arum.
Samantala ibinunyag naman ni Arum na si Bradley ang mas napisil ng HBO bilang kalaban ni Pacquiao kumpara sa mga sinasabi noon na frontrunners na sina British superstar Amir Khan at undefeated junior welterweight champion Terrence Crawford ng Estados Unidos.
“They didn’t think Crawford is well known and they thought Khan was flawed. I told Manny and Manny went with it,”dagdag ni Arum.
Maglalaban sa ikatlong pagkakataon sina Bradey at Pacquiao ngayong April 9 sa MGM Grand Garden Arena sa Las Vegas,Nevada. (DENNIS PRINCIPE)
