Nakapag-uwi ng gintong medalya ang Philippine Canoe-Kayak Dragon Boat Federation sa nakaraang 2015 Thailand International Swan Boat Races na idinaos sa Chao Phraya River sa Bangkok, Thailand.

Nagtala ang mga Filipino paddler sa tiyempong 2 minuto, at 11.55 segundo upang makopo ang gold medal sa Small Boat 500-meter race.

Tinalo nila ang host bet na siyang nag-uwi ng silver sa oras na 2:12.82 at ang Singapore na siyang nagwagi ng bronze sa naitala nitong oras na 2:15.64 at South Korea na pumang-apat sa tiyempong 2:16.39.

“We competed against national teams from different countries. And again, for the second time this year after Asian Dragon Boat Championships, we won against Thailand dragon boat national team,” pahayag ni National Dragon Boat head coach Len Escollante.

Nauna rito, nagwagi ng dalawang gold medal ang ang national dragon boat team sa nakaraang 2015 Asian Dragonboat Championships na idinaos sa Palembang, Indonesia noong Nobyembre matapos manguna sa Small Boat Open 500-meter at Small Boat Open 200-meter events.

“We’ll have a brief rest this holiday season but we’ll be back in our regular training as soon as possible as we prepare for more international tournaments next year,” ayon pa kay Escollante.

Noong isang taon, nagwagi ang koponan ng 5 gold medals, 3 silver at 3 ring bronze sa nilahukan nilang International Canoe Federation (ICF) Dragon Boat World Championships sa Poznan, Poland.

Kabilang sa kanilang napanalunan ay ang juniors men 500m, juniors men 200m, seniors men 200m 20-seater, seniors men 200m 10-seater at seniors mixed 200m. (MARIVIC AWITAN)
