Bilang pakikiisa sa tradisyunal na pagdiriwang ng Pasko at Bagong Taon, nagdeklara ang Central Committee ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) ng 12 araw na ceasefire.
“Upon the recommendation of the Negotiating Panel of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines hereby declares to all command and units of the New People’s Army (NPA) and the people’s militias a ceasefire order that will take effect from 00:01H of 23 December 2015 to 23:59H of 03 January 2016,” ipinaskil ng CCP sa kanilang website noong Martes, Disyembre 15.
Idinagdag nito na ang ceasefire o tigil-putukan ay magbibigay ng pagkakataon sa revolutionary forces na magdaos ng mass assembly at public demonstration para markahan ang ika-47 anibersaryo ng CPP at ipagdiwang ang mga tagumpay ng mga rebolusyonaryo sa nakalipas na taon.
Susuportahan din ng ceasefire order ang mga pagsisikap ng mga tagasulong ng kapayapaan upang palakasin ang pagpapatuloy sa GPH-NDFP peace negotiations batay sa The Hague Joint Declaration, Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG) at ng Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL). Nananawagan ang rebolusyonaryong samahan na palayain ang lahat ng political prisoner kabilang na ang 17 NDFP consultant alinsunod sa CARHRIHL at JASIG.

Mula Disyembre 23 hanggang Enero 3, ang lahat ng NPA units at people’s militia ay titigil at iiwas sa pagsasagawa ng offensive military operations laban sa armed units at mga tauhan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), at iba pang paramilitary at armadong grupo na nakaugnay sa Gobyerno ng Republika ng Pilipinas, diin sa pahayag.
“Personnel of the AFP and PNP who have no serious liabilities other than their membership in their armed units shall not be subjected to arrest or punitive actions. They may be allowed individually to enter territory of the people’s democratic government to make personal visits to relatives and friends.”
Nilinaw din ng pahayag na habang ang lahat ng unit ng NPA at people’s militia ay nasa defensive mode, mananatili itong nakaalerto sa anumang pag-atake ng mga kalaban. (ALEXANDER LOPEZ)
