HANDANG-HANDA na ang Quezon City Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community sa idaraos na 2nd QC LGBT Pride March sa Sabado, December 5 sa Timog at Tomas Morato Streets.

Ayon sa organizers ng event na sina EJ Ulanday (chairman), Dindi Tan at Rico Suave (co-chair), ito na ang pinakamalaking pagtitipon ng LGBT group which is being hosted by the Quezon City government under the auspices of the Office of the Mayor thru the Hon. Herbert Maclang Bautista.

Ang Quezon City ang kauna-unahang siyudad sa bansa na nagpasa ng batas tungkol sa LGBT, ang Gender-Fair Ordinance na sponsored ni QC Councilor Mayen Juico at naipasa sa plenaryo noong nagdaang taon.

“We know that the best way to change people’s perspective is to continously educate the public on gender awareness and rights. This could be done first by supporting the visibility of LGBT community,” paliwanag ng butihing alkalde ng pinakamalaking lungsod sa bansa.

Ang theme ng LGBT celebrations ngayong taon ay “Magkakaiba at Nagkakaisa.” And what to expect in this year’s celebrations? Bukod sa programa, makulay at magarbong parada, magbibigay din ng awards ang Quezon City Pride Council (QCPC) namely: Unkabogable Float (Best Float); Most Number of Contigents; and Special Awards for non-float delegates & organizational/group tulad ng Balangaw Awards; Disiplinado Garantisado Award; Ad-BOKA-siya Award; at Tema-mazing Award para sa most creative delegate showcasing this year’s LGBT theme.

Inaasahan din ng QCPC ang pagdalo sa selebrasyon ng ilang openly gay showbiz personalities katulad nina John “Sweet” Lapus, Chokoleit at Allan K para magbigay ningning sa pagtitipon. Sa kauna-unahang gay march, pinarangalan ng Pride March ang King of Talk na si Boy Abunda bilang Rainbow Awardee for his undying love and support para sa LGBT community.
