May bagong trabaho sa Vatican si Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle matapos siyang mahalal bilang isa sa 15 miyembro ng konseho ng mga cardinal at obispo mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo na inatasang maghanda para sa susunod na synod.
Ayon sa Catholic News Service, labindalawang miyembro ng ordinary council ng Synod of Bishops, tatlo mula sa bawat kontinente na ang Asia at Oceania ay ibinilang na isa, ang inihalal ng synod father sa pagtatapos ng pagtitipon kamakailan sa Rome, Italy.
Ang tatlong itinalaga ni Pope Francis ay sina Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako ng Baghdad, Archbishop Carlos Osoro ng Madrid, at Archbishop Sergio Da Rocha ng Brasilia, Brazil.
Kilala bilang advisory body ng Holy Father, ang konseho ay binubuo ng isang permanent secretary general at undersecretary at 15 miyembro.

“The body is composed of members who took strongly divergent positions at the synod particularly on giving communion to divorced and civilly remarried. They will assist current synod secretary general Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri and undersecretary Bishop Fabio Fabene until the next assembly of the synod of bishops. The new council is also expected to coordinate the follow-up to the recent synod on the family,” sinabi ng CNS.
Si Tagle ay nagsilbing isa sa tatlong president ng synod on the family kamakailan. Siya ay miyembro rin ng Pontifical Council on the Family. (Christina I. Hermoso)
