Hinimok ni Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III ang mga kapitalista na umentuhan ang sahod ng kanilang mga manggagawa upang matulungang umalagwa ang ekonomiya ng bansa.

Sa kanyang talumpati sa 30th Biennial Convention of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FCCCI), sinabi ng Pangulo na ang paglimita sa suweldo ng mga obrero ay nakapagpapabansot sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.

“Not too long ago, the idea of maximizing profits was all about cutting down costs. And since a lot of the products we manufacture have labor as a primary value added component, cutting down costs meant keeping wages as low as possible,” anang Pangulo.

Ang epekto aniya nito’y nananatiling maliit ang ekonomiya dahil ang mga mangagagawa rin ang mga kumokonsumo ng mga produkto kaya’t kapag mababa ang kanilang suweldo ay limitado rin ang kakayahan nilang bumili.

“Increasing their disposable income increases demand and therefore increases competition. It logically follows that this pushes companies to strive for greater productivity and efficiencies,” dagdag pa niya.

Hindi aniya lumusot sa Kongreso ang ipinanukala niya bilang mambabatas na nag-uutos sa mga negosyante na ibahagi ang kanilang kita sa mga empleyado.

“Make the effort to give your employees a little more and it will serve to drive them to be even more productive,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
