ANGELES CITY – Dismayado kay Sen. Lito Lapid ang isang grupo ng mga “Kabalen” matapos hindi siya lumagda sa Senate joint committee report sa madugong insidente sa Mamasapano, Maguindanao, na itinuturing ng mga Kapampangan na isang makasaysayang dokumento.

“There are decisions and acts of the senate that becomes part of history, like the rejection of the extension of the bases agreement with the United States in 1991.  The senate report regarding its findings on the Mamasapano incident may go down in history as a landmark act of the senate, and it’s a pity that Senator Lapid may not be part of it,” ayon sa kalatas ng Partido Abe Kapampangan (AbeKa).

Isang dating aktor, si Lapid ang nag-iisang Kapampangan sa senado.

Kabilang sa mga hindi lumagda sa joint committee report ay sina Senador Antonio Trillanes IV at Juan Ponce Enrile, na kasalukuyang nakasailalim sa hospital arrest kaugnay sa pork barrel fund scam.

Iginiit naman ni Senate President Franklin Drilon na hindi siya lumagda sa senate report dahil hindi siya miyembro ng ano mang komite sa Mataas na Kapulungan.

Sinabi ni AbeKa Deputy Secretary General William Aguilar, posibleng kailangan pa ni Lapid ng karagdagang panahon upang mabasa at maintindihan ang nilalaman ng committee report na isinapubliko kamakailan ni Sen. Grace Poe.

“The report did not pull punches in even in holding the President politically responsible for the debacle, which perhaps put Senator Lapid in a dilemma for political reasons and may need more time to comprehend the consequences of his action to his own political survival,” ayon sa grupo.

Ang hindi maatim ni Aguilar ay kung bakit lumagda naman ang ilang senador na kilalang kaalyado ni PNoy.

“We have seen him (Lapid) in television during the live coverage of the senate hearings, very dapper in his suit, and we were awaiting for him to ask questions as all the other senators did, but he did not say a word.  But we thought he was just contemplative,” dagdag ni Aguilar.

Ngayon ay nasa ikatlo at huling termino bilang senador, naghayag na si Lapid ng intensiyon na tumakbo bilang mayor ng Angeles City sa 2016 elections.
