Hindi masikmura ng mga leader ng Simbahang Katoliko na mayroong mga guro na mawawalan ng trabaho dahil sa pagpapatupad ng K to 12 program ng gobyerno.

Kaugnay nito, umapela ang Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa mga Catholic school sa bansa na maging mapagkawanggawa sa mga guro at kawani na maaapektuhan sa implementasyon ng K to 12 program sa 2016.

Hinikayat ni CBCP President at Lingayen Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas ang lahat ng Catholic school na magkaroon ng retraining at re-tooling sa mga guro at kawani na posibleng mawalan ng trabaho kapag tuluyang ipinatupad ang K to 12 program sa sektor ng edukasyon.

Naniniwala si Villegas na sa pamamagitan nito ay mabibigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga gurong mawawalan ng trabaho na makapagpaturo sa high school.

“Charity is a law for Catholic schools that takes precedence over all human law, for its origin is the very reason that our Catholic schools exist—the Lord Jesus. Turning away many of the faithful co-workers we have had who have been loyal to our schools and to the local Church for all these years is a most unwelcome prospect,” ani Villegas.

“We strongly exhort our school administrators to provide opportunities for the re-tooling and re-training of our instructors and professors in tertiary education to be able to handle subjects in the academic track of senior high school. Our Catholic school teachers and instructors should not be left to their own devices,” aniya pa.

Kaugnay nito, nabatid na bukas, Marso 12, ay maghahain ng petisyon ang Teachers Dignity Coalition sa Korte Suprema para hilingin na suspendihin ang implementasyon ng K to 12 program sa 2016 dahil mahigit 80,000 guro ang posibleng mawalan ng trabaho bunsod ng pinangangambahang zero college enrollee sa 2016 at 2017.
