Pumalag si Puerto Princesa City, Palawan Mayor Lucilo Bayron sa desisyon ng election officer ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na kaagad tapusin ang beripikasyon ng nagsilagda sa recall petition laban sa alkalde kahit na libu-libo pang pirma ang dapat suriin.

“This is an obvious attempt to railroad the implementation of a sham recall election that was already exposed to contain thousands of fraudulent signatures including signatures of dead people,” sinabi ni Bayron sa isang press conference sa lungsod kahapon.

Ayon kay Bayron, sa 35,731 lagda sa petisyon ay 32,322 pa lang ang nasuri at naberipika.

“A total of 3,409 signatures that have yet to be verified, but the election officer assigned to this petition abruptly ended the verification process without offering any justification at all,” diin ni Bayron. “Clearly, the election officer has unfinished business. This unmistakably shows a total disregard of well-established processes and exposes the petition as an abused course of action to get rid of me at all costs, violating certain rules at the expense of public funds.”

Iginiit ni Bayron na minamaniobra umano ang recall bid dahil natuklasan ng mamamayan na may pandaraya umano sa petisyon.

Nag-rally naman kamakalawa ang mga kamag-anak ng mga namayapa na umano’y nagsilagda sa petisyon, upang hilingin na igalang ng mga nasa likod ng recall ang kanilang mahal sa buhay.

Ibinunyag ng abogada ng mga botante na si Atty. Jean Lou Aguilar na 14,000 sa lumagda sa petisyon ang umano’y pinalsipika, doble-doble ang pagkakalista at may pirma maging ang mga patay.
