Malaki ang pagdududa ni World Boxing Organization (WBO) President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel na matutuloy pa ang  $200M welterweight mega-fight nina WBC at WBA champion  Floyd Mayweather Jr. kontra kay WBO titlist Manny Pacquiao sa Mayo 2 sa MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada sa Estados Unidos.

Sa panayam ni boxing writer Pablo Fletes ng notifight.com, iginiit ni Valcarcel na kung tuloy ang laban sa naturang petsa ay dapat nang ihayag ito ng dalawang boksingero sa susunod na linggo.

Kung hindi, maaring maganap ang sagupaan sa huling bahagi ng taon.

“When I see the [contracts] signed, then I’ll believe this fight will happen. I do not see it for May, perhaps for September,” paliwanag ni Valcarcel. “But only when they sign and have the press conference with both of them...then it is done. Until then I will say that the fight won’t happen.”

Ipinahiwatig ng WBO official na kahit nagkita ang dalawang boksingero sa laro ng Miami Heat kamakailan sa Florida, hindi siya naniniwalang matutuloy ang laban hangga’t hindi sila nagsisilagda sa kontrata.

“There is the rivalry between Showtime and HBO, with one fighter on each side. Showtime made a large investment in Mayweather, HBO is making a large investment in Pacquiao. They are talking, negotiating,” dagdag ni Valcarcel. “The two fighters were on a basketball court together, but until I see the signed contracts and they make the press conference, I will say that the fight is not going to happen.”
