GENEVA (AFP) – Ang taong 2014 ay ang pinakamainit sa talaan, bahagi ng “warming trend” na nakatakdang magpapatuloy, sinabi ng weather agency ng UN noong Lunes.

Ang average global air temperatures noong 2014 ay 0.57 degrees Celsius (1.03 degree Fahrenheit) mas mataas kaysa long-term average na 14 C (57.2 F) na naitala mula 1961 hanggang 1990, ayon sa World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

“Fourteen of the 15 hottest years have all been this century,” sabi ni WMO secretary general Michel Jarraud.

“In 2014, record-breaking heat combined with torrential rainfall and floods in many countries and drought in some others -- consistent with the expectation of a changing climate,” dagdag niya.
