Sa pamumuno ni defending champion Mark John Lexer Galedo, sasabak din ang nationals sa Asian Cycling Championships sa Thailand sa buwan na ito at Singapore Southeast Asian Games sa Hunyo.
Ipinagkaloob ng PhilCycling ang naaayong kautusan na tututok sa pagwawagi sa natatanging UCI Asia Tour road race sa bansa na iprinisinta ng Air21 at co-presented ng MVP Sports Foundation at Smart.
“It is always very inspiring for our cyclists to win an international race on home soil and a victory could translate into a heightened enthusiasm toward cycling,” saad ni Donna Lina-Flavier, presidente ng Le Tour de Filipinas organizer Ube Media.
“But ranged against 12 continental team and two national teams from countries [Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan] with winning traditions in cycling, the Filipino riders would not be expecting a cruise but a grind for all of the four days of the Tour.”
Kasama si Galedo, ang time trial gold medalist sa 2013 Myanmar SEA Games, sa PhilCycling National Team na magsasanay sa Belgium sa summer na ito upang mapalakas pa ang pagsabak sa Singapore Games kasama ang mga bata ngunit may potensiyal na sina Ronald Lomotos (edad 20), George Oconer (22), Incheon Asian Games veteran Ronald Oranza (22) at Jun Rey Navarra (22).
Ang continental teams na umentra sa karera na ginabayan ng Victory Liner, San Mig Zero, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals Phils. at Canon ay ang US’s Team Novo Nordisk, ang unang professional cycling team na kinabibilangan ng riders na may Type 1 Diabetes, Taiwan’s RTS Santic Racing Team at Attaque Team Gusto, Thailand’s Singha Infinite Cycling Team, Australia’s Navitas Satalyst Racing Team, Brunei’s CCN Cycling Team, Indonesia’s Pegasus Continental Cycling Team, Malaysia’s Terengganu Cycling Team, Japan’s Bridgestone Anchor Cycling Team, Iran’s Pishgaman Yzad Pro Cycling Team at Tabriz Petrochemical Team at 7-Eleven-Road Bike Philippines.
Kasama ang Isuzu, MAN Truck and Bus, Viking Rent-A-Car at NLEX bilang road partners, ang ikaanim na edisyon ng Le Tour de Filipinas na magseselebra ng ika-60 taong multi-stage road racing sa bansa ay magsisimula sa Pebrero 1 kung saan ay babaybay sa 126-km Balanga-Balanga (Bataan) Stage One, susundan ng 153.75-km Balanga-Iba (Zambales) Stage Two, 149.34-km Iba-Lingayen (Pangasinan) Stage Three at ang 101-km Lingayen-Baguio City Stage Four.
