Gusto ni Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya na matuloy ang welterweight megabout nina Floyd Mayweather Jr. at Manny Pacquiao dahil batid niyang may tulog ang Amerikano sa nag-iisang eight-division world champion sa buong mundo.

Kung matutuloy ang sagupaang pinakahihintay ng buong mundo, hindi ikakasa ni De La Hoya ang alaga niyang si ex-WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez ng Mexico sa Mayo 2 sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kapwa nakalaban ni De La Hoya ang dalawang boksingero na natalo siya ng kontrobersiyal na 12-round split decision- kay Mayweather noong 2007 at napatigil sa loob ng walong rounds ni Pacquiao noong 2008 kaya nagpasiya nang magretiro sa boksing.

Sa panayam ni Miguel Rivera ng BoxingScene.com, inamin ni De La Hoya na gusto niyang matalo ni Pacquiao si Mayweather.

"As a fan, I hope the fight takes place. It's very important for the world of boxing that it happens, but nobody knows what's going on. Nobody knows, only the fighters and their teams,” ani De La Hoya. “For personal reasons, for myself, I would prefer that Manny Pacquiao wins."

Inihayag din ni De La Hoya na kakausapin niya si Alvarez hinggil sa susunod nitong laban sa Mayo 2 subalit hindi na sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

"I'll be driving tomorrow to San Diego to go talk with Canelo and his team and there's actually several options for him. Bob Arum has been throwing around Tim Bradley at 154,” ani De La Hoya. “There's obviously (Tim) Kirkland but I'm not saying that (Miguel) Cotto is off the table. That's the one fight that the fans want to see so I'm still hoping that a fight like that can get done."

Naniniwala rin siya na puwedeng mas piliin ni Mayweather si Cotto na makaharap sa Mayo 2 kaysa kay Pacquiao dahil mas magaan na kalaban ang Puerto Rican.

''That's exactly what I think is going to happen," giit ni De La Hoya. "I don't believe Mayweather-(Manny) Pacquiao will happen May 2nd."

Ngunit gusto pa rin niyang matuloy ang laban nina Pacquiao at Mayweather.

"Well, I hope it does happen, maybe in September or maybe December but I don't believe it'll happen May 2nd. I don't believe Mayweather's going to fight Amir Khan,” dagdag ng promoter. “What I do believe is that Mayweather will be fighting Miguel Cotto on May 2nd."
