Marahil ay walang tigil ngayon ang halakhak ng komedyante at dating alkalde na si Joey Marquez.

Ito ay matapos siyang pawalang-sala ng Sandiganbayan Fourth Division sa kasong three counts of graft dahil sa umano’y pagmanipula ng kontrata sa pagbili ng P1-milyon halaga ng bala mula sa isang hindi lisensiyadong negosyante noong alkade pa siya ng Parañaque City.

“From day one I know I am innocent. It is part of the hazard of me running for public office,” pahayag ni Marquez matapos ilabas ng anti-graft court ang desisyon sa kaso kahapon.

Si Marquez, kasama si dating General Services Office head Ofelia Caunan, ay kinasuhan ng Office of the Ombudsman dahil sa overpricing ng P1,219,650 halaga ng bala sa VMY Trading na hindi rehistrado sa Philippine National Police (PNP) Firearms and Explosives Division (FED) at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Sa 63-pahinang desisyon na isinulat ni Fourth Division Chairperson Teresita Diaz-Baldos, sinabi ng korte na bigo ang prosekusyon na patunayan “beyond reasonable doubt” na nilabag nina Marquez at Caunan ang Section 3 (e) ng RA 3019 o Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

“Considering that the third element of the offense has not been adequately proven according to legal and jurisprudential standards, and all the essential elements of the offense charged must co-exist in order to warrant a conviction, the indictment of both accused for three counts of Violation of Section 3(e) of R.A. No. 3019 fails,” ayon sa korte.

Bigo rin ang audit team na makakuha ng price quotation ng mga bala mula sa mga rehistradong dealer upang maging basehan ng pagpili ng may mas pinakamababang presyo at matukoy kung talagang may overpricing.
