May kartadang perpektong 36 panalo, 12 sa pamamagitan ng knockouts, magaan na karibal para kay Menayothin si Galero na wala ring talo sa rekord na 11 panalo, 5 sa knockouts subalit wala pang karanasang lumaban sa ibayong dagat.

“Galero and his manager Cayetano Gandeza Jr. of Kambal Kamao Boxing Promotions of Lipa City, Batangas signed the dotted line sometime in the first week of the year,” ayon sa ulat ng BoxingScene.com. “The boxing authority in the Philippines, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) stamped the fight contract on January 8.”

Naagaw ni Menayothin ang WBC title kay Mexican Oswaldo Novoa sa 9th round TKO noong Nobyembre 6, 2014 sa Chonburi, Thailand at iniutos na ng WBC na idepensa niya ang titulo sa mananalo kina No. 1 contender Carlos Ortega ng Panama at No. 2 ranked na si Cuello.

Pero natalo si Ortega sa 9th round TKO kay Mexican Ricardo Perez sa pagdepensa ng kanyang WBC Silver minimumweight title noong Disyembre 20, 2014 sa Quintana Roo, Mexico kaya muling naudlot ang eliminator bout ni Cuello.

“Galero’s fight with Menayothin for the WBC minimum weight title fight is already done (deal),” ani Gandeza. “When we received the offer of course we are so happy because everyone’s dream is to fight for the world title and the chance was presented to us, we right away had a meeting and discuss things and we all agreed for that chance.”
