Pinagpapaliwanag ni Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares ang mga kumpanya ng langis sa bansa hinggil sa pagtaas ng presyo ng produktong petrolyo sa gitna ng pagbaba ng oil price sa pandaigdigang merkado.

Sinabi ni Colmenares na dapat magpaliwanag sa publiko ang mga kumpanya ng langis at ang gobyerno kaugnay ng huling oil price hike.

“What is this blip that they are talking about and why did it cause an oil price hike? Oil companies and the Department of Energy (DOE) should explain this given that international oil prices are below $70 a barrel unlike at the beginning of 2014 when prices were at $100-barrel level,” pahayag ni Colmenares.

Ito ay matapos magtaas ang Petron ng presyo ng gasolina ng 30 sentimos kada litro at 10 sentimos kada litro ng kerosene, kamakailan.

Wala namang naging pagbabago sa presyo ng diesel. Kalaunan ay sumunod din ang Chevron at Seaoil sa pagtataas sa presyo ng gasolina at kerosene sa parehong halaga.

“We received reports from industry insiders that the oil prices rollback that oil players implemented were not enough and that oil prices should have been at least P1-2 lower and the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) should be at least P2 less by kilogram,” ani Colmenares.

“In fact as the local oil companies are imposing an increase, crude oil prices fell to a five-year low last Monday,” dagdag niya.

Ayon kay Colmenares, ang delivery ng US crude benchmark na West Texas Intermediate para sa Pebrero ay bumaba ng $1.12 at nagtapos sa $53.61 kada barrel matapos hawakan ang $56 range nang halos dalawang linggo.

“Brent crude for February delivery, the London benchmark, fell 57 cents from Friday’s close of $57.88. Even the price of Dubai crude oil where the Philippines gets its supply is at an all time low,” aniya.

Ayon sa opposition solon, kahit pa naihain na niya at ng iba pang miyembro ng Makabayan bloc ang House Resolution 755 na humihiling ng imbestigasyon sa hindi pagkakatugma ng presyo ng produktong petrolyo sa Metro Manila at mga lalawigan, bigo pa rin ang mga kumpanya ng langis na maipaliwanag ang serye ng price adjustments.
