Hiniling ni noon ay Pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sa Sandiganbayan First Division na payagan siyang idaos ang Pasko at Bagong Taon sa kanyang bahay kapiling ang kanyang pamilya.

Sa kanyang mosyon na isinumite sa korte nitong Lunes, umaasa ang mga abogado ni Arroyo na pahihintulutan ng First Division na umuwi at manatili ang dating Pangulo sa bahay nito sa Quezon City mula Disyembre 23 hanggang Enero 3.

“In the spirit of the Yuletide season and for humanitarian and compassionate considerations and Christian charity, accused PGMA (Arroyo) is thus humbly and sincerely begging the Honorable Court that she be granted leave... to celebrate Christmas and New Year with her family and relatives...” anang mga abogado ni Arroyo.

Iginiit ng mga abogado ng kongresista na malapit nang sumapit sa 68-anyos ang kanilang kliyente at simula nang sumailalim sa hospital arrest sa Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) noong Disyembre 9, 2011 ay hindi na bumuti ang lagay nito.

“To treat her of the said illness it has been strongly suggested and recommended not only by her attending physicians but more recently by clinical psychologist, Dr. Arnulfo Lopez, PhD, that a holistic approache be undertaken,” anila.

Dahil ito, sinabi ng mga abogado ni Arroyo na ang pagdiriwang nito ng Pasko at Bagong Taon kapiling ang pamilya ay “part of the holistic approach that could at least contribute to the betterment of her medical condition, if not, her overall wellness and successful treatment.”
