Binatikos ng United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) si dating Makati City Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado sa pagtatago nito sa immunity na ipinagkaloob sa kanya ng Senado upang magsiwalat ng kasinungalin laban kay Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Ayon kay UNA Interim Secretary General JV Bautista, malinaw ang muling pagsisinungaling ni Mercado sa ibinunyag nito sa pagpapatuloy ng imbestigasyon sa Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee nitong Miyerkules.

“So once again, Mr. Mercado has been exposed as a liar, someone who hides behind his immunity to lie and make stories against Vice President Jejomar Binay,” sabi ni Bautista.

Inihayag pa nito, mapanlinlang ang ipinakita ni Mercado na Powerpoint presentation ng mga resibo at billing statement buhat sa Tagaytay Highlands na sinasabing pag-aari ng bise presidente ang bahay at lupa sa nasabing mountain resort.

Samantala naglabas ng opisyal na pahayag ang Belle Corporation, ang developer ng Tagaytay Highlands na nagsasabing walang log cabin sa Tagaytay Highlands si Binay.

“Tagaytay Highlands had no record of the VP’s alleged ownership of a log cabin there. The signing privileges alluded to by Mr. Mercado can be enjoyed by any Highlands club member, which the VP is, and not just by unit owners. Now that this has been cleared up, we wonder where else this witch hunt will go to next,” diin nito.
