Kumilos ang isang mambabatas sa Palawan upang harangin ang pagsasama sa probinsya sa nilalayong Bangsamoro region batay sa binanggit sa panukalang Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

Inihain ni Rep. Frederick Abueg ng 2nd district ng probinsiya ang House Resolution (HR) 1514 na pinamagatang “A Resolution directing the House Ad Hoc Committee to exclude the Province of Palawan and the City of Puerto Princesa in the proposed Bangsamoro Entity and to include the three Representatives of Palawan as regular members with voting rights in the House Ad Hoc Committee.”

Ang tatlong Kinatawan mula sa Palawan ay sina: Rep. Franz “Chicoy” Alvarez (1st District); Rep. Abueg; at Rep. Douglas Hagedorn (3rd District).

Sa resolusyon, iginiit ni Abueg ang kalooban ng mga residente ng Palawan batay sa kasaysayan ng pagtutol nila na maisama ang llawigan sa Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

“History speaks for itself, the people of Palawan consistently resist the inclusion of the province to the ARMM in four successive plebiscites held during the time of then President (Ferdinand) Marcos, (Corazon) Aquino and (Fidel) Ramos, wherein the negative votes therefrom cast were more than 85 percent of the total votes,” saad sa resolusyon.

Binigyang diin din ni Abueg sa kanyang HR na ang populasyon ng mga Muslim sa Palawan kabilang na sa City of Puerto Princesa ay “seven to eight percent” lamang ng kabuuang populasyon ng 994,340, batay sa 2010 census.

Hinahangad ang representasyon, sinabi ni Abueg sa kanyang resolution na ang “the province of Palawan being mentioned and will likely be directly affected in the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) be a sufficient justification for the three Representatives to be included as regular members with voting rights in the Ad Hoc panel.”

Pinamumunuan ni Cagayan de Oro 2nd district Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, ang Ad Hoc panel ay particular na binuo para pag-aralan ang BBL sa loob ng anim na buwan, at pagkatapos nito ay inaasahang maaaprubahan at mapagtibay ito sa isang plebisito sa 2015.
