BOSTON, Massachusetts – Muling pinarunggitan ni Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III si dating Pangulo at ngayon ay Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo na aniya ay “seemingly adopted” ang “handbook of how to abuse the democratic process” ng dating diktador na si Ferdinand Marcos.
Sa kanyang policy speech sa John F. Kennedy School of Government sa Harvard University, sinabi ng Pangulo na ang “overwhelming ambition of so many” noong panahon ng rehimeng Arroyo ay lisanin ang bansa.
“At the end of her regime, our people were so apathetic to all the scandals and issues affecting her, and government’s inability to effect change, that the overwhelming ambition of so many was to leave the country. Now, an estimated 10 million of our countrymen reside abroad,” anang Pangulo.
Binanggit din niya ang aniya’Y pagtatangka ni Arroyo na protektahan ang sarili mula sa mga kasong posibleng kaharapin pagkatapos ng termino nito.
“My predecessor, who put a premium on political survival, tried to protect herself by appointing a chief justice to the Supreme Court, despite a prohibition on appointing people to office when a presidency is about to end,” sinabi pa ni Pangulong Aquino, tinukoy si dating Chief Justice Renato Corona, na napatalsik sa puwesto dahil sa pagsisinungaling sa kanyang yaman.
Sinabi ni Pangulong Aquino na ang kaso ni Corona ay isang halimbawa ng accountability.
“My predecessor and three incumbent senators, to cite the most potent examples, are now in detention as they undergo trial on the charge of plunder,” anang Pangulo, tinukoy sina Arroyo at Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada at Ramon Revilla Jr.
