Nakumpleto na ang 2014 MILO Little Olympics matapos ang huling dalawang leg sa NCR na ginanap sa Marikina City at Luzon, partikular sa Baguio City.

Tinanghal na kampeon ang San Beda College-Rizal para sa sekondarya at St. Jude Catholic School sa elementary divisions ng NCR leg habang ang Baguio City National High School at Baguio Central School naman ang nagwagi sa Luzon leg.

Hangad ng Team NCR na maipagpatuloy pa ang kanilang dominasyon sa pagsisimula ng paghahanda para naman sa National Finals.

Mahigit sa 5,400 student-athletes mula sa 177 eskuwelahan sa rehiyon ang nagpartisipa sa prestihiyosong inter-school competition at lumahok sa 13 magkakaibang sports na binubuo ng athletics, badminton, basketball, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, chess, sepaktakraw at scrabble.

Dalawang Tulfo brothers, nanguna sa survey ng senatorial race

Mahigit sa 800 koponan ang naglaban para sa tsansang maiprisinta ang Team NCR sa pagtatanggol nila sa kanilang championship crown sa National Finals na gagawin sa Oktubre 24 hanggang 26.

Matapos tanghaling back-to-back overall champion, misyon ng Team NCR na mapagwagian ang kanilang ikatlong sunod na kampeonato upang iuwi ang pinakamimithing MILO Little Olympics Perpetual Trophy.

Isinagawa ang opening ceremony bago ang limang araw na torneo na dinaluhan nina Hon. Tonisito Umali, Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs ng Department of Education, Dr. Luz Almeda, Regional Director ng Department of Education, National Capital Region, at Mayor Del De Guzman ng Marikina City, kasama ang mahigit na 30,000 spectators mula sa kalahok na eskuwelahan.

Ikinatuwa naman ni Dr. Robert Milton Calo, Regional Organizer ng NCR leg ng 2014 MILO Little Olympics, ang ipinakitang husay ng mga kasaling koponan.

“All of the student-athletes and their coaches are very ambitious to win the championships so that the Perpetual Trophy will be with us forever,” sinabi ni Dr. Calo. “All of the regional teams are excellent and we are all in for a thrilling final on October. Everyone has a fair chance to win, but we will definitely put up a good fight come the National Finals.”

Nanguna ang San Beda College-Rizal sa secondary division sa 95 puntos. Kasama ng San Beda Red Cubs sa top ten ang Emilio Aguinaldo College-ICA (85 points), King’s Montessori School (62 points), Sta. Elena HS (47 points), St. Paul College-Pasig (44 points), Rizal HS (42 points), UP Integrated School (40 points), St. Jude Catholic School (37 points), Diliman Preparatory School (33 points) at University of the East (33 points).

Tumapos naman sa elementary division ang St. Jude Catholic School na may 67 points kasunod ang Concepcion Elementary School (54 points), Legarda Elementary School (53.5 points), Diosdado P. Macapagal Elem School (42 points), Mandaluyong Elementary School (40 points), San Diego Elementary School (40 points), asmarinas II Central School (40 points), Marist School (35.67 points), Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan Inc. (32 points) at Itaas Elementary School (32 points).
