Nilagdaan ng Konsulado ng Pilipinas sa San Francisco at ng United State (US) Labor’s and Hour Division’s Southwest Regional Office sa Colorado ang Agreement Protecting Labor Rights ng mga Pinoy sa Amerika noong Setyembre 5.
“Regardless of immigration status, the US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (DOL-WHD) is committed to making sure that all workers in the U.S. are paid properly and for all the hours they are on the job, regardless of immigration status,” pahayag ni Wage and Hour Divison Denver District Director Charles Frasier.
Sinabi pa ni Director Frasier kay Deputy Consul General Jaime Ramon Ascalon na makikipagtulungan sila sa Konsulado at Filipino community sa Colorado upang maabot ang lahat ng Pinoy sa lugar at maipabatid ang kanilang karapatan sa pagtatrabaho (labor rights) sa isinagawang seremonya sa paglagda ng naturang kasunduan sa sideline ng Consulate on Wheels outreach mission sa Crosswinds Church sa Aurora, Colorado.
“We can also assist them in investigating possible violations by their employers, while protecting their identity,” dugtong ni Frasier.

Dumalo sa seremonya ang Filipino community sa pangunguna nina Ms. Giselle Rushford, Executive Director ng National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), Ms. Donna Lavigne, dating Regional Chair ng NaFFAA, at Mr. Ric Doguiles, Pastor ng Crosswind Church.
Naitatag ng Alliance Arrangement ang pinag-isang relasyon sa pagbibigay ng impormasyon, edukasyon at training resources na makatutulong sa mga Pinoy sa Colorado, Montana, Utah at Wyoming na makuha ang kanilang karapatan sa trabaho partikular na mapababa ang mga paglabag sa minimum wage, overtime, recordkeeping, child labor, safe housing at probisyon sa transportasyon alinsunod sa ipinaiiral na batas at regulasyon ng WHD.
