Ipu-pullout na ng Pilipinas ang mga sundalo nito na nagsisilbing United Nations (UN) peacekeepers sa Golan Heights at Liberia sa harap ng matinding banta sa seguridad at kalusugan sa nasabing mga lugar, inihayag kahapon ng Department of National Defense (DND).
Sinabi ng DND na isasagawa ang repatriation sa Oktubre.
May 331 Pinoy peacekeeper sa Golan Heights at 115 naman sa Liberia.
“To ensure the safety and security of the Philippine military troops deployed to conflict-affected areas, the country’s contingents in the Golan Heights and Liberia are scheduled to be repatriated within the year,” saad sa pahayag ng kagawaran.

“The 331-strong Filipino contingent serving as part of the United Nations Disengagement Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights will be repatriated at the end of their tour of duty in October,” saad pa sa pahayag.
Samantala, sa harap ng tumitinding banta ng outbreak ng Ebola virus sa Africa, agad na pababalikin sa bansa ang mga Pilipinong sundalo na bahagi ng UN Mission sa Liberia.
“Amidst the volatile security environment in the Middle East and North African region, the Philippines prioritizes the safety and security of its troops, but remains committed to the peacekeeping missions of the United Nations,” paglilinaw naman ng DND.
Sinabi naman ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio P. Catapang na hindi magpapadala ang Pilipinas ng panibagong tropa para palitan ang mga pauuwiin sa bansa, ngunit idinagdag na: “Willing naman tayo magpa-assign sa ibang lugar.” - Elena L. Aben
