Upang matuldukan ang namumuong alitan sa pagitan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), pinayagan ng Malacanang ang mga truck-for-hire na gumagamit ng green plate na makabiyahe sa Metro Manila hanggang Agosto 15.
Sinabi ni Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. na ito ang napagkasunduan ng dalawang ahensiya sa pagpupulong sa Malacanang noong Huwebes.
Una nang sinisi ng MMDA ang LTFRB nang ipatupad ng huli ang “no apprehension policy” para sa mga truck-for-hire na nagpalala umano sa trapik sa Metro Manila.
“Trucks-for-hire still using green plates are allowed to operate while in the process of applying for provisional authority (PA) with the LTFRB until August 15, 2014,” pahayag ni Coloma.

“Effective August 16, 2014, trucks without provisional authority will be apprehended and fined,” aniya.
Maaari naman aniyang mag-apply para sa exemption mula sa provisional authority ang mga not-for-hire truck na gamit ng mga pribadong indibwal o organisasyon.
Ang exemption ay balido ng tatlong taon at matapos ay dapat na i-renew.
“For the next three months, the government shall give the exemption for free. Despite the issuance of PA or exemption, green-plated trucks will continue to be covered by the existing truck ban and other traffic regulations,” ani Coloma.
Samantala, naniniwala ang mga opisyal ng Malacanang na babalik ang normal na sitwasyon sa Port of Manila bago sumapit ang Agosto 16.
“Yung Port of Manila ay major port of entry ng mga kalakal na ginagamit sa negosyo at sa kabuhayan natin, at ito rin ang principal port for exports kaya mahalaga talaga ‘yung efficiency of movement in and out of the Port of Manila,” ayon kay Coloma. (Madel Sabater-Namit)
