Sinimulan na ng Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) ang pag-iinspeksiyon sa operasyon ng mga Singaporean recruitment agency upang matiyak na hindi itinuturing ng mga ito na “budget maid” ang mga Pinoy household service worker.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni DoLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz na inatasan niya ang Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) sa Singapore na tiyakin na sumusunod ang mga recruitment agency sa patakaran ng Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) laban sa hindi magandang paglalarawan sa mga dayuhang domestic worker sa mga advertisement.

“I have instructed our POLO in Singapore to make random visits to employment agencies to monitor their compliance with the MOM advisory and report the inappropriate display of advertisements or insensitive advertising of OFWs as commodities,” pahayag ni Baldoz.

Sinabi ni Baldoz na ang pasaway na ahensiya na nagtatrato sa mga dayuhang domestic worker bilang mga kalakal ay dapat patawan ng parusa ng POLO.

“We uphold the protection and welfare of our household service workers (HSWs) onsite and we will continue to monitor erring employment agencies in Singapore and cancel their accreditation with the POLO, if needed,” ayon kay Baldoz .

Base sa ulat ng international news cable company Al Jazeera, dahil sa umano’y masamang pagtrato sa mga dayuhang household worker, apat na ahensiya ang iniimbestigahan ng Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).

Sinabi sa ulat ng Al Jazeera na ilang dayuhang household worker, kabilang ang mga Pinoy, ang ipinaparada sa isang Singaporean mall na may alok na diskuwento sa service fee.
