Sinuspinde kahapon ng Office of the Ombudsman si dating Congressman at ngayo’y incumbent Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella dahil sa pagkakaantala ng implementasyon ng isang administrative decision laban sa dalawang building official ng lungsod noong 2014.
Paliwanag ng Ombudsman, si Puentevella ay napatunayang nagkasala sa reklamong Simple Misconduct kung kaya’t sinuspinde ito ng isang buwan sa kanyang posisyon.
Nag-ugat ang kaso nang magpalabas ng kautusan ang anti-graft agency noong Hulyo 2014 na nagsususpinde kina Building Official Isidro Sun, Jr. at Building Inspector Jose Maria Makilan nang mapatunayan silang guilty sa reklamong Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service.
Ayon sa Ombudsman, natanggap ni Puentevella ang kanilang desisyon noong Disyembre 9, 2015 na nag-uutos sa kanya na ipatupad ito.

“The Ombudsman Act of 1989 [Republic Act No. 6770] plainly states that decisions of the Office of the Ombudsman are immediately effective and executory and that there is nothing vague or ambiguous with this wording. The Ombudsman emphasized that neither R.A. No. 6770 nor the issuances of the [Ombudsman] authorize a head of office or agency to schedule a different date for the effectivity of the Decision,” ayon sa kautusan ng Ombudsman. (Rommel P.
